June 9, 2017

There is good news and bad news. The bad news is that to date we have 41 paid reservations received; 4 unpaid reservations received; and 1 who missed the June 8 deadline but is sending payment now from a ways away. So we fell short of the needed 50. The good news is that a few generous class members contributed extra dollars when they sent their reservations. About 5 people sent anywhere from a few dollars to quite a few dollars. A special note of appreciation for your generosity! Therefore, we will be able to go ahead with plans for our Saturday evening main event at the Kent Center at Simpson! We are confident that we will receive more reservations as time goes by. The final deadline is Aug. 1 — that will be the last chance for us to give a final meal count. Thank you for your conscientiousness in getting your money and reservations to us!

Thanks to all of you who got on the stick and sent your reservations!

I know that our big reunion is a ways off, but it’s important for us to receive your reservations soon. We’ll need at least 50 total paid reservations to cover our costs, and we have about 23 now. If we have to cancel, we must do so at least 90 days in advance or we’ll lose our deposit of $375. I hope we’ll be able to reach 50, but we need to know for certain by June 8. Please send your money today if you plan to attend. Thank you!

HELP! We cannot find the banner that John Parker made for our class many years ago! We’ve used it at every reunion since, and the last time we had it was at the Indianola Country Club in 2007 for our 40th reunion. I have talked to those who helped hang it and take it down that night, and none of us can remember who took it home to store. If you have any information about it, please email Susie Shupe at cremecheze@crosspaths.net. And please check your garage, attic, etc., just in case you took it home to store and have forgotten! We would really like to display it at our 50th reunion this fall. Thanks!

Reserve the weekend of September 8 and 9 for our 50th Class Reunion celebration in 2017! Friday night will be a casual drop-in at the Sports Page in Indianola. Saturday will be a less-casual, little dressier evening at the Kent Student Center on the Simpson College campus, with a buffet dinner being served. Stay tuned for cost and reservation information, as we are still working out the details. Looking forward to seeing you all then!

If anyone has ideas for other activities for that weekend, post it on the web site to find out if there is interest and gather some volunteers to get it organized.

If you are new to the site, be certain to read the First Time Visitors page (above) and remember: the site assembles a missing classmates list for us based solely on the names of people who don't yet have profiles. Until you have a profile, the site will consider you "missing." Click on your name on the Missing Classmates page (above left) to begin (and be sure to join and log into the site.)

Greetings, 1967 class members!

Next year, as many of you are aware, will be our 50th year since graduation! Unbelievable, isn't it? On that note, volunteers need to come forward to organize and coordinate a reunion, if there is to be one. I (Susie Shupe) have organized the past 7 of 8 and it is now time for someone else to take on the task. If you are interested, please call me (515-961-2762) or email me at cremecheze@crosspaths.net and I will give you details.

We have been working together on creating a new web site for class members' profiles and other information. (The classes of 1968 and 1969 have done this and those web sites look great. Check them out by Googling Indianola Class of 1968 or 1969.They are password-protected, so you won't be able to get past the first screen, but it gives you a glimpse of their class reunion photos and the layout.)

We are sending this letter to all the email addresses we have from our 45th reunion, so we can get a start on updating our records in anticipation of a possible reunion next year. If you receive this, please go to our new web site, indianola67.com, set up a password and complete your profile. This will enable us to contact you with future information regarding a possible reunion next year. Also, if you have email addresses for other friends in our class, please forward this to them so they can respond.

In this age of technology, most people use emails, Facebook, etc., for information and communication. We will have a Facebook page set up as well. With these added tools, we can eliminate postal mailings and the accompanying cost and labor to put them together.

So, for now, we hope you receive this and can help us get the word out about a possible 50th reunion. No plans have been made as of yet, but if and when they are, info will be posted on our new web site and passed along via email

Thank you for your help. Now go take your nap!

Sincerely,

Susie Shupe
